- O.C.D. – obsessive compulsive disorder or a
- Panic disorder.
Mental illness is not caused by a character flaw. It has become more treatable than ever before. There are warning signs. There are some ways to overcome the stigma. Mental illness can be diagnosed and treated and the media MUST rely on
ACCURATE coverage instead of on sensational depictions and stereotypes. This will improve our understanding of mental illness a great deal.
If we each educate ourselves on the subject of mental illness, we can then educate others by using this knowledge. People suffering from a mental illness need to be treated with respect, compassion and a great deal of empathy.
Friends can make a difference by offering reassurance and friendship.
It is fear of the unknown, but through information and education, the stigma attached to mental illness can be irradiated for good.
