COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET is not easy for some of us but it is important to do so as there is no more shame about having a mental illness, a brain illness, than there is to admitting to a physical illness.
Denial is the inability to admit the truth; the inability to acknowledge a given situation.
Denial stops the people who are suffering from a mental illness; a br
ain illness, from getting all the assistance that they require.
Denying a situation does not make it disappear. If a woman denies that she is a battered wife, will that make her bruises disappear?
Because illnesses need to be treated, we must not deny their existence and need to deal with them whether they are physical or brain illnesses.
IF IT HELPED TO DENY BRAIN ILLNESS, THERE WOULD BE NO MORE MENTAL ILLNESS AT ALL.
